Title: Transplantation immunology
Authors: George , Andrew J. T.
Item Type: Thesis or dissertation
Abstract: The work outlined in these publications forms a body of work that has had a major impact on our understanding of the immunology of corneal transplantation and the development of therapeutics to prevent transplant rejection. It has also increased our understanding of more general aspects of transplant rejection, and also of how gene therapy vectors interact with cells of the immune system. This series includes the first paper showing the feasibility of gene transfer to the cornea, which has started a new field of research. This work has had impact as evidenced by the citations to these publications (more than 1280 citations to these 25 papers). They also demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach to science, with collaborations with mathematicians, chemists, clinicians and other immunologists.
