Abstract
This work presents a search for the decay B → ppτν using data gathered with the
LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018. No significant signal is observed and a limit is
placed on the ratio of branching fractions
R(pp) = B → ppτν/B → ppμν < 1.46
at a 95% confidence level, which represents the first limit on a semileptonic ratio of
this kind involving decays that are suppressed by the most poorly understood ele-
ment of the CKM matrix; Vub. An investigation into the B → pp transition form
factors in B → ppℓν decays, which was instrumental in facilitating the search for
B → ppτν , is also presented using the 2011–2012 LHCb data sample.
