Title: | Interplays of humanism, cognitivism and behaviourism in design engineering |
Authors: | Childs, P |
Item Type: | Chapter |
Abstract: | Principal learning theories include behaviourism, humanism, cognitivism and constructivism. Each has held sway in education for a period and has contributed to our ability to develop and deploy evidence-based curriculums and learning environments. This chapter considers the contributions of these learning theories and their relevance to the design, engineering and hybrid domains, with a particular focus on the recently developed curriculum for an integrated masters in Design Engineering at Imperial College London. |
