Abstract: A boost-full-bridge (BFB) single-active-bridge (SAB) ac-dc converter is proposed in this paper. The topology has high power density and galvanic isolation, thanks to its high-frequency (HF) transformer link. In addition, it can be easily controlled by using the proposed modulation and control scheme. Furthermore, it is able to block dc-side short-circuit fault current contribution. The converter operation principles are analyzed. Experiment results are also given to show the startup dynamics, steady-state waveforms, and the dc fault blocking capability.
