Item Type: | Journal Article |
Abstract: | We explore the role of statistics for Big Data analysis arising from the emerging eld of Data-Centric Engineering. Using examples related to sensor-instrumented bridges, we highlight a number of issues and challenges. These are broadly cate- gorised as relating to uncertainty, latent-structure modelling, and the synthesis of statistical models and abstract physical models.
