Abstract
The concept of co-production refers to a collaborative approach for citizens to deliver public services resulting from building cross-border networks between multiple entities to help solve societal issues. This enables stakeholders from all sides to benefit from either a cultural exchange or through economic empowerment and incentives. This becomes beneficial to both parties as agreed by their respective governments leading to multi-lateral cultural prosperity and exchange of values.
The approach has started to gain prominence in other industry verticals including sports competitions where joint nations host sports events and in climate research where resources need to be pooled across borders to optimise and allow for effective cooperation that will lead to success. However, its origins arose from the need for effective community health service delivery that has now enabled a collaborative, cultural workforce and healthcare knowledge exchange to support the management of complex diseases.
A multi-national example of co-production in healthcare is implemented to bring about healthcare quality improvement and collaborative architectures that contribute to value creation for patients with type 1 diabetes.
