Abstract
The SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused significant impacts to the lives of expectant mothers and those in the immediate postnatal phases of their lives. This has resulted in significant psychological, physical and socioeconomic burden on society leading to the distress, anxiety and depression of mothers and their new-born infants. Mothers have been separated from their children with considerable psychological burden to both them and the child.
In this best practice document, the European Psychiatric Association presents a best practice measure to enable a collaborative therapeutic and rehabilitation model to support the treatment of mothers suffering from mental
health disorders during the pre-to-post natal period during the pandemic with post-pandemic sustainability also highlighted.
