Abstract
This commentary begins with a discussion of how health care is modelled in a human capital approach and what that implies for inequality in the distribution of health care. This is followed by an outline of some of the key issues in the measurement of inequalities in health care. It ends with a brief review of what the empirical literature shows on inequality in health-care utilization in the UK by socio-economic status.1
