R-MAPP: Remote consultation on malnutrition in primary care practices

Abstract
Malnutrition is an under-diagnosed condition with a significant global healthcare burden. The condition is heavily prevalent in under-privileged communities
with the vast majority being from Sub-Saharan Africa and South-Central Asia.
Reports from 2011, suggested that malnutrition had affected an estimated 178 million children under 5 years who were reported to have stunted growth. More
than 55 million children have a low- weight for their height (wasted) with 19 million of these children severely affected with a higher risk of premature death. The current figures are likely to have significantly risen due to the SARS-CoV- 2 (COVID-19) pandemic and recent geopolitical instabilities.
In this brief communication, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki presents a method of addressing practice using remote consultation to help identify and address issues linked to malnutrition.
