Abstract
Safe patient care and safe healthcare outcomes remains at the heart of healthcare provision for many stakeholders. The Global Patient Safety Action Plan in 2021-2030 sets out and provides a strategic objective fostering synergistic multi-national partnerships between patients, funders, policymakers, services providers and various international institutions to tackle global patient safety issues. It provides a crucial action plan with strategic elements to support improvement of safety across healthcare institutions.
In 2021, the Global Patient Safety Action Plan has been adopted by the Seventy-Fourth World Health Assembly (WHO). However, maintaining stakeholder engagement requires a more systematic approach to design a blueprint for action. Such a blueprint heavily involves collaborative patient safety education. In this brief best practice document, the UK patient safety and learning team presents an example platform to support shared learning that aims to improve global patient safety and provide evidence of its impact, and sustainability of good practice.
