Abstract
Collaboration in culturally diverse groups is a challenge to the trend of increasing globalization environment and cultural diversity workforce. While individuals with cultural intelligence ability have been promised to help increase information benefits and decrease the social cost of collective cooperation, the systematic and deep understanding of the individual-level multicultural experience and collective-level creative climates exploration has been ignored by various studies. This study aims to explore the deep production reasons and impacts of individual multicultural experiences and five relevant creative climates in creative team collaboration. To achieve this goal, a semi-structured interview was conducted with 20 students from various countries. Sensitive information in culture and cooperative atmosphere have been excavated. The main contribution of the study is that it demonstrates the significance of some specific individual multicultural experiences and creative climate dimensions. This leads to a further understanding of individual cultural intelligence ability through both roles of individual-level and collective-level factors that influence collective creativity in the cultural diversity and design context. The key finding is that the role of international education experience can be inspired to train cultural intelligence ability. Secondly, participative safety and risk-taking purely play a beneficial influence on collective creativity, while playfulness, debates and conflicts are both promotions and hindrances. Intrinsic motivation and internal influence factors can be the main promotion of creative climate dimensions. However, the external factors play the inhibition impacts. Overall, cultural intelligence ability-supported tools could be researched for classroom education for future work by combining them with individual multicultural experiences and the influence factors of creative climate dimensions.
