Abstract
We conducted a comprehensive literature search on medical errors in Interventional Radiology (IR).
Our search only retrieved three studies, which quantitatively assessed the incidence of errors in IR. A total number of 503 patients were included in the studies. All studies instituted a change in practice in order to reduce the incidence of errors. They have all demonstrated a significant reduction in IR errors following implementation of their proposed intervention.
Our search highlights the paucity of studies quantitatively assessing medical errors in IR. We urge further research into the field in order to enhance patient safety.
