Abstract
In Europe, the SESAR programme, has set a number of targets, including a growth in capacity. This initiative is underpinned, amongst others, by the platform ‘increased levels of automation’, the subject of interest to the HALA network.
The proposed PhD is concerned with the development of a method for the modelling and estimation of gate-to-gate capacity within a specified airspace.
The framework developed in this research will be crucial to the quantification of both the benefits and limitations of automation in terms of operational capacity. The capacity model developed will be flexible, with the ability to quantify capacity for different levels of automation.
