A discussion of attempts to synthesise members of the bromophycolide family of natural
products by three distinct strategies is included. Novel chemistry includes: new studies on prenyl groups in ring-closing metathesis and the discovery of a relay-cross metathesis reaction for synthesising terpenoids.
