Abstract
To understand why transport pricing is in any way different from pricing more generally in economics requires consideration of the specific characteristics of transport as a good or
service. Transport as an activity cannot be stored and is directly consumed as it is produced. Hence the price of a transport service has both a spatial and a temporal dimension; it
relates to the interaction of demand and supply at a specific location and at a specific point in time.
