Abstract
In Part 1 the relation between activity of the pectinase enzyme of the pH value and the Bacillus oarotovorus and other organisms has been studied In considerable detail. The prolonged exposure of an enzyme to a high H-ion concentration shifted its optimum pH to a lower value.
The effect of cultural conditions on pectinase production by Bac,cerotovorus, Bee,subtilis and Bot,clnerea was investigated, The pH value of the medium was shown to be the dominant factor. The C/8 ratio of the medium end the nitrogenous constituent as such had as a rule no direct effect but controlled enzyme production through their influence on She pK drift, on natural behaviour of Bac.oarotovorus and Bao.subtills decoctions was also examined.
In Part II the facultative parasitism of Bae,subtills and those organisms Bot,olnerea on potato was investigated. Both Invaded living potato tissue injected with water enzymes exhibited a similar behaviour, A definite qualitative normal difference between the enzymes of Bao.carotovorusf parasite of potato, end of Bot.cineree has been demonstrated.
