Abstract
The structural characterization of single-walled carbon nanotubes is evaluated after careful purification, disentanglement, oxidation and base treatments. The analyses confirms a small weight percent of non-nanotube material is present, but can be effectively removed with base. The resulting nanotubes remain soluble in water due to oxidized sidewalls and are dramatically shorter after oxidation.
